Objective - Monthly Craft

Who gets enough crafting in their lives? None of us, that's right! So, each month we will take a turn hosting a craft night/day in our homes. When it is your month, you get to propose a couple of ideas and the group gets to vote on which one we do. Proposals should be accompanied by estimated costs so that can be taken into account in the vote. Monies for the craft need to be given in advance to the host so they can purchase supplies. This blog is not private, so be sure not to post info you don't want available to the public! Please feel free to invite anyone you think might be interested.

Super Saturday October 15, 2011

Oak Harbor 1st and 2nd wards will be having a Super Saturday on Saturday, October 15th from 10am to 2pm.  To help make it a little easier to get classes paid for, you have the option of making your payment online.  If you are interested, please go to the sidebar to the right to pay for your "Be" Board or Family Home Evening Dice.  Because there is a surcharge from PayPal to make payments, payments made online will be $0.50 more than if made in person.

The final details for March Craft Group

Okay, you have been seen what we are going to do, here are the final facts:

What - Word Block Sets
When - March 8th
Where -
- 10am at Tara's
- 7pm at Caralee's
Who - anyone who wants to make a set! Please spread the word!
How long - at least two hours! Paint and mod podge have to dry, and sanding may be done. We don't want you going home with an unfinished project!

Since there is a lot of cutting and sanding that need to be done beforehand, we need all orders final by Tuesday, 1 March. To reserve a spot, please comment on THIS post with the following information:
- how many sets you want
- the font you want your letters
- the color you want your letters
- whether you want your letters all caps or all lower case
If this sounds confusing, call Tara for additional info. Basically, I can cut whatever font you want, but I am not going to pick one for you. Go here if you want a font other than a basic Word font and I can cut it.

Payment needs to be made in advance so supplies can be purchased. You can give me cash or you can use the "Add to Cart" button on the right to make your payment, but it MUST be paid by 1 March! Please remember also that you will need to bring a bottle of paint to match your home's decor. Brushes, etc will be provided.

March Craft Group is ON!

Okay, so we missed February. I know. But, the project for March is SO worth the wait. We are going to make these super easy word blocks.
Each block is 3.5" square, and with seven blocks you will be able to make the following words:

Harvest
Welcome
Friends
Faith
Family
Spooky
Winter
Freedom
Blessed
Snow
Home
Hope
Monster
Mother
Dream
Easter

And, there are probably some other options in there if you want to figure them out.

So, March's group will be held on Tuesday, 8 March, with two time options:
- 10am at Tara's house (kids welcome)
- evening at Caralee Flowers' house (sans kids)

We are still working on figuring up the exact price, but each set will be under $5. Hopefully in the next few days I will get price all figured up. Also, since I have a super cool Silhouette, I can cut your lettering in any font you want! The only thing you will need to bring is a bottle of paint to match your home's decor.

Are you so excited? I am!

Finished Headbands!

So, in case you just wanted to see how cute these were really going to be before you committed, here are a few samples.

Super cute, right? And, in case you didn't want to make a headband, we also made a few bobby pin varieties:
Remember, Thursday at 10am with kids or at 8pm without kids!

Scheduling Headaches!

I don't know why I didn't think to consult the Stake calendar before I planned this month's craft group! :) I didn't even listen today when they announced that there would be Stake Priesthood meeting. It wasn't until someone brought it to my attention that I realized it is the same night as CRAFT GROUP! Which means, almost no one has baby sitters on Thursday night! I could scream! So, since I really do want to do this, and I really do like having people over, I am going to add a night in for Craft group. If you want to come over on Tuesday night (that would be the 18th) you can come at 7:30pm. If you are planning on taking that route, please drop me a line. If no one says, "yes, I am coming" I probably won't be quite ready on Tuesday night. However, I am still going to leave Thursday at 10am open, as well as Thursday at 8pm (for those who do have a sitter). This means that we won't all be together in one clump, but hopefully it means some who wouldn't be able to come otherwise will be able to attend. Better luck next month, I know.

A new way to pay

One of the most aggravating things about doing a craft group is the money part. I know everyone is honest and means to pay for stuff, but who carries around cash? Not me. So, to make things easier on everyone, I set this up so payments (to me, of course) can be made right here! I hope this makes things easier. If you would prefer to pay for yours in person, please feel free to do so. However, if you are like me and would rather just click a few buttons and not have to worry anymore, go to the right side bar and use the "Add to Cart" button. Hope this helps!

I got the colors!

I had to make a trip today, so I went ahead and picked up the felt for the headbands we are going to be making this month. Here it is!
I can't tell you how excited I am to get going on this project! If you are interested and haven't commented, please do so ASAP!
